Fairfield were established April 1982 by Roger Ellis and Ron Millington with the aim of helping customers print labels which required bar codes. They wanted to identify products and process them using scanners, so they could spend more time focusing on their business. Early successes created rapid growth after becoming recognised as specialists in this area and formed the Company’s ethos of providing high quality products and solutions, backed by great customer service – values which still form the backbone of our Company business today.
Since then, we’ve been helping our customers label, identify and automate their operations using a variety of technologies and applications, from product and in-process labels to laser marking and more recently digital printing – constantly evolving to meet the ever-changing needs of our diverse customer base, from Start-ups and SMEs to Global multi-site organisations.
Our Managing Director, Mark Lynch, joined the business in 2000, increasing the coding expertise of the organisation and also incorporating RFID, which was in its infancy at the time. This took Fairfield from a traditional labelling and scanning company, to a full provider of end to end solutions. Using close, strong and impartial relationships with the industry’s leading software, hardware and integration companies, Fairfield quickly established itself as a leader in Auto ID. Mark then subsequently led an MBO to take over the company in January 2004, prompting the next stage in the Company’s growth plans.
Our team at Fairfield are key to its success – the very first employee taken on by Roger and Ron shortly after formation still works at Fairfield today, with a number of staff having a great many years of experience and skill sets to understand our customers’ requirements in order to provide the very best label or Auto ID solution.
Today we retain and continue to expand our key relationships with the industry’s leading manufacturers, embracing new technologies and constantly updating our product portfolio across all industry sectors, including Manufacturing, Transportation & Logistics, Automotive, Food & Drink & Healthcare, ensuring the products and services we provide today will be relevant, up to date and available to all our customers for at least the next 40 years.
